Sri Lanka: Dancers perform night-long ritual as 'Gini Madu Shanthikarmaya' in Colombo

Life Colombo, Sri Lanka - 12 August 2017

Dancers perform a night-long ritual as Gini Madu Shanthikarmaya at Batuwatta Temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka on August 12, 2017 as a praise to Goddess Paththini to shower peace and prosperity to all countrymen. Some dancers wear traditional Sri Lankan masks made out of low weight wood and others wear elegant & bright dancing costumes. Yak Bera or Devil's Drum is a part of low country dancing form and a definite inclusion in a ritual like 'Madu'. The dance, which started at 7pm lasted till the next day morning
