Police attack protesters in a hunger strike march led by academics Nuriye Gulmen and Semih Ozakca in Istanbul, Turkey on August 11, 2017. The teachers, who have been on hunger strike since November, were suspended from their teaching positions in a post-coup crackdown on the public sector by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Police intercepted their supporters in the city, taking 16 people into custody on the 156th day of their hunger strike.
