Peru: Lima hosts Ironman 70.3

Over 1653 athletes ran in the IRONMAN 70.3 Peru race at Agua Dulce beach in Chorrillos town, Lima on April 23, 2017. Three Bend residents reached the podium at Ironman 70.3 Peru on Sunday, led by Heather Jackson winning the women’s triathlon and Linsey Corbin placing third. Bend’s Jesse Thomas, 37, finished second in the men’s race in 3:45:21, 28 seconds behind Andy Potts, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Thomas was 52 seconds back of a leading three-person pack after the bike leg but clocked a race-best 1:14:00 in the run to finish second.
